NCW Launches SHAKTI Scholars Fellowship to Support Young Women Researchers

NCW Launches SHAKTI Scholars Fellowship

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has introduced the SHAKTI Scholars: NCW Young Research Fellowship. The programme is open for the most of the youthful Indian researchers to do research on the problematic issues related to women throughout the nation. The fellowship is an essential part of a method of doing research to yield insights that could be used to make or adjust policies.

Eligibility for the fellowship is for Indian nationals, who are 21-30 years old, and have at least a graduation degree from an accredited institution. Full consideration will be given to candidates who are studying or have already completed their post-graduation or higher research. In addition, independent researchers who submit particularly good proposals will also be considered.

SHAKTI Scholars advocates for interdisciplinary explorations into the lives of women. Women’s safety, violence against women, the legal system, and women’s rights are just a few of the many topics that interested parties could study. The list of subjects touched upon may range from the security of women in the cyber world, women leadership and political inclusion, women’s health and nutrition, education and skill development, women’s economic opportunities and participation in the labor force to cultural practices and work-life balance issues.

This diversity of themes is intended to generate new proofs, bring fresh ideas, and produce practical solutions to the policy-making process. NCW, via backing studies that traverse various fields, expects to provide richer comprehension of the ways in which women can socially and economically flourish in India.

The selected fellows will be granted funds amounting to Rs 1 lakh for the purpose of research. The grant is intended for six months of fieldwork or study which will be disbursed in stages that are dependent on the research progress. This phase-wise grant release that is aligned with the research progress not only provides the necessary financial support but also serves as a motivation to achieve the project objectives and thus, create an impact.

December 31 at 5:30 p.m. is the last moment e-mail through which applications can be sent to NCW. The process of selection will involve an expert committee reviewing the submissions and shortlisting the candidates who will then be invited for online interaction.
NCW’s move comes when gender research is becoming more and more prominent globally. Research based on facts can serve as a foundation for laws, safeguarding of rights, and programs that provide better quality of life for women. By identifying new problems and actual challenges, SHAKTI Scholars will be able to supply policymakers with high-quality research and information.

NCW has also established a 24-hour helpline in support of women in crisis situations along with the fellowship. The organization is asking communities, schools, and media to help in disseminating the information about both the helpline and the fellowship.
These fellowships put the new wave of researchers in the middle of the changes. They not only receive the resources needed but also gain a platform from which to reach and influence policy and the society’s perception of women’s issues in India.
