Disney+ And Hulu Are Pushing for More Video Podcasts Thanks to Their Iheartmedia Partnership

Disney And Hulu Are Pushing for More Video Podcasts

Disney+ (DIS.N) and Hulu announced on Monday that they had reached a video podcasting agreement with iHeartMedia (IHRT.O), opening a new tab for six podcast series, beginning with “Hey Jonas!,” as they grow their libraries to attract more viewers in a cutthroat industry.

The deal continues Disney+ and Hulu’s push into video podcasts, a medium that competitors like Netflix (NFLX.O), opens new tab, and HBO Max are also adopting.

The Jonas Brothers’ show “Hey Jonas!” will debut on Disney+ and Hulu on August 14, according to the businesses.

“Pod Meets World” on Disney+, “Desperately Devoted,” “Fake Doctors, Real Friends with Zach and Donald,” “StraightioLab,” and “Thanks Dad with Ego Nwodim” on Hulu are just a few of the celebrity-hosted rewatch and companion podcasts that will be available on the platforms as a result of the agreement.

In the upcoming months, the podcasts will gradually go live on Disney+ and Hulu. Disney and iHeartMedia did not reveal the deal’s financial details.

Both Netflix and HBO Max have entered the video podcast space. Netflix has partnered with Spotify (SPOT.N) and opened a new tab and iHeartMedia for programs including “The Bill Simmons Podcast.”
