India vs Thailand Women’s Asia Cup 2026: India Win by 94 Runs 

India opened their India vs Thailand Women’s Asia Cup 2026 campaign with a 94 run victory over Thailand at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Shafali Verma’s aggressive half century and a disciplined bowling display helped India defend 159/9 after Thailand were dismissed for 65 in 16.1 overs. 

Shafali set the platform for the India women’s cricket team with 64 off 36 deliveries. Her innings included eight fours and three sixes as India reached 91/2 after nine overs. Pratika Rawal added 22 on her T20I debut, while Smriti Mandhana scored 19 from 10 balls before being run out. 

Thailand responded strongly with the ball and put India under pressure through the middle overs. Suleeporn Laomi removed Shafali Verma and Richa Ghosh from successive deliveries before India slipped from 107/2 to 137/9. Laomi finished with 3/26, while Sunida Chaturongrattana took 2/31. 

Kranti Gaud provided late runs for India, scoring an unbeaten 15 from eight balls. Her contribution lifted India to 159/9 and gave the bowlers a more competitive total to defend. 

Thailand struggled during the chase as wickets fell regularly from the opening over. Gaud dismissed Natthakan Chatham for four, while Nandani Sharma removed Phannita Maya to leave Thailand at 16/2. 

Nannapat Koncharoenkai offered resistance with 41 from 48 balls, but support was limited as Thailand lost wickets at regular intervals. Nandani Sharma claimed 3/18, while Shree Charani added 2/10 to keep the chase under control. 

Deepti Sharma then completed a memorable outing for the India women’s cricket team. Her figures of 3/0 from 1.1 overs helped finish the innings and took her to 171 wickets in women’s T20I cricket, moving her past Thailand’s Thipatcha Putthawong. 

The India vs Thailand Women’s Asia Cup 2026 result also gives India an early advantage in Group A, which includes Pakistan and Hong Kong China. India will next face Hong Kong China on September 3 before meeting Pakistan on September 5. 

The Women’s Asia Cup 2026 campaign now moves into its next stage, with India looking to secure a place in the semi-finals. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage.
