PHDCCI Highlights Solar Sector Business Opportunities for Women in Clean Energy

PHDCCI Highlights Solar Sector Business

The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) hosted a session in Chandigarh focused on telling women about business opportunities in the solar energy sector. The event took place at the Exhibition Ground in Sector 34 and was organised in collaboration with CREST.

During the session, after the speeches, it was spoken that the turn of India towards the clean energy sector is opening up new doors for women entrepreneurs. Rajneesh Bansal, who is in charge of the PHDCCI’s Chandigarh Chapter, reiterated that women are indeed the ones who can take solar energy solutions up-country thereby giving them an important role. He expressed that the clean energy sector is not only a technological field but also a business one where women can work and even start companies.

The women participants were informed about the continuum in the solar industry that goes from the sales and distribution of solar products to the technical roles and business ownership among the opportunities on the basis of the solar plants set up. The solar technologies are being adopted at a faster pace since the price of solar panels and other allied equipment is going down and is likely to decrease further.
At the same time, government policies are making the entry to the renewable energy business easy and inviting by giving out incentives and forming support systems.

The discussion at the event also included policy support. Keynote speakers disseminated the information regarding the regulatory frameworks and the incentives that can aid women to enter and develop in the solar business. This also comprised the specifics about the financial support systems and the schemes which have been designed to facilitate the small and medium-sized enterprises’ entrance into the renewable energy market.

During the session, the women participants were made to understand that the solar energy sector is an area where they could generate income, and jobs as well as be a part of India’s climate-friendly initiatives. The speakers mentioned that in addition to the usual job deligations, women can be seen as technicians, consultants, project owners, and even going to have a say in community energy projects.

Women advocates point out that the solar empowerment of women will not only double the industry but also lead to stronger local economies. The piece of solar business that women get to earn is mostly spent back in their families and neighborhoods. Various investigations have proved that as women assume the charge in clean energy, the electrical and energy services access of the community gets better which is especially true for rural and underprivileged areas.

The Chandigarh session was an occasion for the city to be part of the campaigns, which are going to be even bigger, to teach people the good sides of renewable energy and to make the area of clean energy, where only skilled people, i.e. all the entrepreneurs can by fits succeed, the first one.
