Leadership, Diversity, and Career Advice From HCLTech Chairperson Roshni Nadar Malhotra

Leadership, Diversity, and Career Advice From HCLTech

From Media Producer to CEO of India’s Top Tech Company

HCL Technologies is led by Roshni Nadar Malhotra as its chairperson. She opened up about her career journey and shared some pieces of advice in the latest interview. London was where, in the very beginning, she worked as a television producer. Her father, the founder of HCL, Shiv Nadar, advised her to equip herself with a business degree. She got her MBA and in 2008 she came on board the HCL Group. 2013 saw her getting the board membership and 2020 the chairperson position. Consequently, the business magazine recently ranked her first in the list of the wealthiest women in India and named her among the most influential business leaders in the country.

Malhotra admitted that her biggest issues in career development were those related to her youth rather than her gender. Without an engineering degree, she was in a technical field and picked up skills on the job. She recommended that women should never give up and always keep their eyes on future goals. Her attitude is a mixture of assurance and the willingness to always learn something new.

Raising the Gender Issue and Integrating the Opposite Sex

Through Malhotra’s stewardship, HCLTech has employed different strategies to enhance female representation and participation. There are now as many women on the company’s board as men, which is a result of the board’s decision that she fully supports. According to her, diversity elevates the team because it becomes more productive then.

Her manner of leadership puts the greatest emphasis on inclusion as well as having a lucid plan for business expansion. She considered that being honest with one’s self and keeping the eye on the ball are of paramount importance not only for women but for all the professionals.

Integrating the Best of Two Worlds in Tech-Malhotra

Malhotra pointed out several times that changes in the technology sector are something businesses should anticipate. The use of AI and various other sophisticated instruments is just one of the numerous ways HCLTech is planning to develop its business and at the same time, keep it sustainable altogether with the training of the staff for the future. According to her, AI ought to be a means of easy carrying out human work, not human job elimination. She reiterated this position on innovation and workforce strategy at different forums where she spoke.

She foresees that company like HCLTech can explore global markets such as the United States, Europe, Japan, and the Middle East to gain a competitive advantage over the coming years. Thus, while strengthening her company’s existing service lines, she aspires to expand the company’s presence in these areas.
